Please join me in voting on Tuesday for Paula Kingsbury-Evans. We need younger bloodlines in our elected officials and offices. She has good ideas and will a good representative in the Massachusetts First House District. I received a flyer promoting her opponent which was paid for by a PAC. He takes disproportionate credit for ideas and accomplishments of others. He now promotes popular trends he has not been known for. His past local history was divisive. Creativity and original ideation is important! In short, it’s time for a change! Vote for Paula Kingsbury Evans on Tuesday, Sept. 6. Ken Swiatek

 WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The initial estimate for a new fire station came in at just below $18 million, the fire district's Building Committee learned on Wednesday. But there are a number of unknowns at this stage of the design process, and the committee noted at least one opportunity Wednesday to trim the budget by choosing a gas-fired HVAC system over an electric-powered variable refrigerant flow system. With the more energy-efficient electric VRF system included, estimator Miyakoda Consulting of Raynham pegged the building cost at $17,909,261 for a cost of $658.07 per square foot, assuming a summer 2023 construction start. WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The average property owner will see a 4.4 percent rise in their property tax in the current fiscal year according to numbers presented by Town Assessor Chris Lamarre. Lamarre gave a report to the Select Board and the fire district's Prudential Committee before each taxing authority made its annual vote on whether to maintain a single tax rate in the town. According to projections based on the total tax levy — the spending approved by the annual town meeting and annual district meeting — and the total value of taxable property (currently just more than $1.2 billion), the tax rate for FY23 will be $16.17 per $1,000 of 0 Comments

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Attorney General's Office has determined the Select Board violated the Open Meeting Law by holding a "serial communication" regarding the employment status of the then-interim town manager. The violation was found by the AGO during its review of emails submitted by the town in response to a different but related OML complaint.
