DALTON, Mass. -- Zach Archambault hit a grand slam to center field and pitched a strong inning of relief to close out a 14-4, five inning win for Wahconah against Mount Greylock in Babe Ruth baseball on Saturday at Pine Grove Park.

Archambault gave the hosts a double-digit lead in the bottom of the third.

After Lucas Wildrick, Colin Mackie and Drew Wendling each worked a walk, Archambault blasted a one-out homer that cleared the fence and made it 13-2.

It was 14-2 going to the top of the fifth, but the Mounties mounted a rally.

Oscar Low and Josh Polumbo each walked ahead of Dylan Harrison's RBI single. After Jake Gitterman walked to load the bases, Wahconah coach Ernie Wellington sent Archambault to the mound.

He walked his first man to get the margin down to 10, but then struck out a pair before getting a fly ball to foul territory down the third-base line to end it.

Wahconah did most of is damage in the second inning, scoring seven runs without the benefit of a base hit. Six walks and five hit-batters in the frame was all the help Wahconah needed as Mount Greylock's pitchers struggled to find the strike zone.

Mackie had a sacrifice fly in the fourth to score Owen Alfonso, who reached on a single to left.

For Mount Greylock, Oscar Low went 1-for-2 with a double and scored twice, and Jackson Shelsey and Chase Doyle each had a double.

Shane Bernardo struck out five in three innings to get the win on the mound for Wahconah. Dan Wilson threw an inning of relief.

The game marked the 3,000 in the career of plate umpire Rich Pothier.
