Williams Men's Golf Second in Home Invitational

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Sam Goldenring finished at 1-under-par and tied for first place after Sunday's second round of the Williams Fall Invitational at Taconic Golf Club.
 
Goldenring tied Hamilton's Jack Habeeb, who carded a 2-under round of 69 in Saturday's first round.
 
The Ephs finished at 21-over as a team, one stroke behind team champion Babson.
 
MCLA placed 25th in the field.
 
The Trailblazers were based by Drury High graduate Nick Bator, who finished tied for 44th place at 13 over for the weekend.
 
Williams goes to Wayland next week for the NESCAC Qualifier.
 
Women's Golf
SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- Olivia White and Catalin Yturralde finished second and third, respectively, Sunday to pace Williams to a dominating win at the Mount Holyoke Invitational.
 
Both Ephs carded even-par rounds of 72 on Sunday.
 
White ended the two-day event tied for first at 3-over for the weekend and lost a playoff to SUNY Cortland's Danielle Bambola.
 
Yturralde started Sunday tied for eighth after opening with a 77 on Saturday and climbed up the leaderboard to finish alone in third.
 
As a team, Williams finished 23-over -- 46 strokes ahead of runners-up New York University and Middlebury.
 
Williams goes to Middlebury next week for the George Phinney Invitational.
 
Women's Soccer
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Liz Girvan scored the first two goals for Williams in an 8-0 win over Castleton State (Vt.).
 
Whitney Lincoln and Leyla Kamshad each played a half in goal, combining for one save for Williams (3-2-1), which hosts Amherst on Saturday at noon.
 
Field Hockey
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Claire Fitzpatrick scored twice, and Emily Batchelor had a goal and an assist to lead Williams to a 4-0 win over St. John Fisher.
 
Abby Lloyd and Gates Tenerowicz tended the goal for Williams, which did not allow a shot on goal.
 
The Ephs (4-1) travels to meet Springfield College on Wednsday.
