DALTON, Mass. -- Jimmy Chase scored six goals Thursday to lead the Tiger Muskies to a 12-7 win over Pittsfield High in the championship game of the Berkshire County Summer Lacrosse League.

"All I’ve been thinking about all week at work was keeping my hair silky, being awesome and putting goals where the kitten sleeps (top shelf)," Chase joked.

"As a former goalie at Western New England, I knew where to put my shots where the goalie couldn’t get to them."

Chase scored 10 goals and recorded four assists between the league semi-final and final combined.

Mike Snyder had a goal and two assists, and Brian Kelly scored a goal and set up three more for the Tiger Muskies.

Cal Filson stopped 23 shots in the win.

“Last year we were stung in the championship game," Tiger Muskies player/coach Zack Sondrini said. "We vowed to not let it happen again. Jimmy Chase and Cal Filson put the team on their shoulders.

"We won by five, but that was only due to the outstanding goalie play of Cal. He was making some unbelievable saves and kept the game from being a lot closer.”

Zack Rahilly stopped 19 shots for Pittsfield.

Brenden Leary had a goal and an assist and, along with Trey Salvi, helped PHS dominate the faceoffs, winning 22 of 23 draws.

“I knew we were really strong in the faceoff game," Leary said. "It’s our strong suit."

Ryan Jacoby and Mason Papiro each scored a pair for Pittsfield.

“Our guys left it all on the field," Pittsfield player/coach Scott Aitken said. "Hats off to the Muskies. They made a few more plays down the stretch. I’m happy the way our guys competed today.”
