WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The No. 5 Williams College Ephs men's tennis team Sunday defeated Wesleyan, 8-1.

Williams (9-2) went 3-0 in doubles to start the day and then cruised to five two-set wins in singles, wrpping up a weekend that started with a win over Middlebury.

"This caps off a great weekend for us," coach DAn Greenberg said. "We beat two tough teams and saw a few things we can definitely improve this week."

Williams gets to rest a week before travelling to Hartford to face the Trinity College Bantams on Saturday.

Women's Tennis
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Two undefeated NESCAC teams faced off on Sunday as Williams overcame Wesleyan University, 8-1, to advance to 10-0 on the spring.

Senior duo Juli Raventos and Julia Cancio led things off for the Ephs, battling Wesleyan's Eudice Chong and Victoria Yu to a 9-8(6) victory. These two teams had a history coming into the day, as Chong and Yu overcame Raventos and Cancio in the doubles finals of the Oracle ITA New England Regional Women's Tennis Championship in October of 2017.

Chloe Henderson and Rachel Cross earned an 8-1 victory to put the Ephs up 2-0 before Giulia McDonnell Nieto del Rio and Emily Zheng completed the doubles sweep with an 8-6 victory.

Chong bounced back against Raventos in the top singles spot with a 6-0, 6-1 win, but that was the only win Wesleyan would secure on the day

Williams now turns to five matches away, beginning on Saturday against Amherst. The Ephs defeated Amherst 7-2 in their one dual match of the fall season.

Men's Golf
BLOOMFIELD, N.J. -- Williams wrapped up play at this year's NYU Invitational in poor fashion. The team could not shake off the rust that had built up during a week's worth of indoor practices following their return from spring break.

The event was played at the par-71 Forest Hills Field Club, which played in spring conditions typified by the aerated greens the players were forced to contend with. NYU made use of their home course advantage, capturing the team title with a second round score of 305. Their total score of 603 beat out RPI by six shots and Trinity College by 16 shots.

Sophomore Sam Goldenring was again the only Williams player to break 80 on the day, firing a 79 during his second round. Junior Jake Foehl and Sophomore Will Kannegieser each carded rounds of 82, and first-year Beau David finished his round in 83 shots.

The team will have plenty of time to work on their games before the next time they tee it up in competition, two weeks from now in their home tournament.

Softball
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Lexi Curt, Rebeecca Duncan and Kirstin Mapes each homered for Williams in an 11-3 win over Wesleyan on Sunday that took just five innings.

Mackenzie Murphy allowed just two earned runs in five innings of work in the circle for Williams (18-4, 5-1 NESCAC), which hosts RPI for a double-header on Wednesday.

Baseball
AMHERST, Mass. -- Sam Schneider struck out five and allowed two earned runs over six innings on the mound for Amherst in a 16-4 win over Williams on Sunday.

Kellen Hatheway went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles for the Ephs (3-12, 2-4 NESCAC), who host Trinity on Tuesday.
