AUBURNDALE, Fla. -- The MCLA offense racked up 16 hits and freshman left hander Brandon Condon tossed six solid innings in leading the Trailblazers to a mercy rule 15-3 victory over Cazenovia Monday afternoon in the RussMatt Invitational.

MCLA improves to 3-2 as they head into an off day while Cazenovia drops to 1-2 on the young season.

Neither team was active over the first two innings of play, but then the MCLA bats came alive in the third. Drury graduate Logan Rumbolt doubled home Ben Durland for the games first run and then Jeff Bink tripled home Rumbolt and Christian Seariac to make it 3-0. Wahconah’s Joe DiMassimo connected for a long triple to right field scoring Bink and when Brett LaBonte singled in DiMassimo, it was 5-0 in favor of MCLA.

The Trailblazers added three more runs in the fourth and two in the fifth to jump out to a commanding 10-0 advantage. Rumbolt added a two run double in the fourth inning while a pair of Wildcat miscues led to runs in the fifth.

After struggling a bit early on, Condon really settled down. The Mount Greylock graduate retired seven straight Wildcats at one point and kept them off the board until the fifth when his own error cost him a run. He tossed a scoreless sixth inning however, earning his first collegiate win in the process.

He allowed seven hits, walked two, and struck out five Wildcats.  Isaac Marx and Drury’s Hayden Bird finished out the game for the Trailblazers on the hill.

Rumbolt was 3-for-5 on the afternoon with 3 RBI's. Bink continued his hot hitting going 2-5 but driving in three more runs. LaBonte, Nick DiSanti, and Durland all ended with a pair of hits.

Cazenovia's Chris Schad was saddled with the loss after going the first 3.1 innings and allowing seven earned runs.

The Trailblazers return to action on Thursday when they battle Colby-Sawyer in a 9 a.m. twinbill.
