Williams Football Comes Back, Wins at Middlebury on Final Play

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. -- Bobby Maimaron threw a 15-yard pass to Frank Stola on the last play of the game to cap a 12-point fourth-quarter comeback and give the Williams College football team a 27-26 win over Middlebury on Saturday afternoon.
 
Maimaron threw for 195 yards and a pair of touchdowns and ran for 93 yards and a touchdown as Williams (4-1) handed the Panthers their first loss of the season.
 
Williams is home next Saturday against Tufts, the first of three home games in Williams’ last four, culminating in the season-ender against rival Amherst on Veterans Day.
 
Women’s Soccer
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -- Williams’ Jacqueline Simeone scored in the 46th minute Saturday to give the Ephs a 1-0 win over Wesleyan.
 
Olivia Barnhill needed to make three saves to earn the shutout in goal for Williams (11-0-1, 7-0-1 NESCAC), which goes to Springfield on Sunday.
 
Men’s Soccer
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -- Williams’ Liam Bardong scored to erase a one-goal deficit and send the Ephs on to a 1-1 tie against Wesleyan on Saturday.
 
Bobby Schneiderman made two saves for Williams (6-1-4, 2-1-4), which goes to Babson on Sunday.
 
Field Hockey
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -- Libby Dolan had a goal and an assist Saturday to lead Williams to a 3-1 win over Wesleyan.
 
Julia Cochran and Molly Lohss also scored as the Ephs took a 3-0 lead in the 63rd minute.
 
Abby Lloyd and Emma Santucci combined on the win in goal for Williams (10-2, 6-2), which visits New Hampshire’s Keene State on Tuesday.
 
Women’s Cross Country
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The Williams women won their 10th-straight Little Three title on Saturday behind a second-place finish from captain Victoria Kingham.
 
Kingham clocked a time of 18 minutes, 23 seconds, well behind Amherst’s Nicky Roberts (17:49).
 
Men’s Cross Country
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The seventh-ranked Amherst men won the Little Three title on Saturday, breaking Williams’ 29-year winning streak.
 
Williams was led by Liam Simpson with a third-place finish. He clocked a time of 26 minutes, 4 seconds in the race won by Amherst’s Cosmo Brossy in 25:59.
 
Volleyball
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The Amherst volleyball team Saturday earned a 25-20, 25-21, 20-25, 25-17 win over Williams in Chandler Gymnasium.
 
Alex Newton had nine kills and 36 assists, and Ally Ostrow had 12 kills for the Ephs (8-10, 4-5), who host Springfield College on Friday.
