DALTON, Mass. -- The Greylock seventh- and eighth-grade boys travel basketball team jumped out to a 9-0 lead and held on Thursday for a 43-33 win over the CYC in the Dalton CRA's Jim Horth Tournament.

Derek Paris hit a 3-pointer to get Greylock off to a quick start on his way to an 11-point night.

CYC battled back to get the deficit down to four points late, but Oscar Low (five points) and Malcolm Waynick (eight points) hit free throws to extend Greylock's lead.

"It was a great start for the kids, and we were able to get many kids with quality minutes, which, in turn, helped eight of our 11 players get on the scoreboard," Greylock coach Rick Paris said.

Riley Burke and Nick Harrington each scored seven for the CYC.

Greylock plays Adams on Saturday afternoon.
