CHELMSFORD, Mass. -- Lisbon, Maine, scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to put away a 10-2 win over the Lanesborough Bulldogs 12-year-old All-Stars on Monday at the Cal Ripken Baseball New England Regional.

“It was a great run for our boys, and it was a great experience,” Lanesborough coach Rick Paris said. “It's sad it comes to an end of their Cal Ripken season, but some of the players will continue on and play one more tournament beginning Aug. 3, a five-day tournament at the Tennessee Cal Ripken complex. It will be a great way to cap our season off.

“We are very proud how these boys handled themselves and played. It just didn't happen for us. That's baseball.”

Jack Giggerman went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles, and Landen Jamula was 1-for-1 with a home run for the Bulldogs, who lost in the first round of the tournament’s single-elimination phase.

Jack Cangelosi and Tristan Gardner split time on the mound for a Lanesborough group making its second straight trip to the New Englands as the Western Massachusetts Champion.
