Letter: Come Together to Support Mount Greylock

To the Editor:

As parents of Mount Greylock students, we have seen how desperately a new building is needed and how much work it takes the staff and students to teach and learn in challenging circumstances.

We have also seen the communities of Lanesborough and Williamstown come together time and again to support their students. Parents raise money for teams and fill the cheering section at many sporting events. Community members travel to local theaters to enjoy music and theater programs, like next week's performance of Nice Work if You Can Get it. Families volunteer to staff events for the Junior Classical League. Young children in our area benefit from the work of groups like the Knitting Club.

Citizens from both towns, led by Mark Schiek of Lanesborough and Paula Consolini of Williamstown, came together at dozens of open public meetings to develop the current plan for the Mt Greylock Building Project. Their proposal was so necessary and comprehensive that they procured more than $30 million of state funding for the project.

Let's continue to support the community we love. We encourage everyone in Lanesborough to come to the polls on Tuesday to support our school and our children. The time to rebuild Mt Greylock together is now. Vote YES!.

The writers are vice president and president of the Mount Greylock PTO.
