Williams Men's Hockey Wins at Conn College

NEW LONDON, Conn. -- The Williams College men's hockey team (5-1-0, 4-0-0 NESCAC) defeated the Connecticut College, 3-1, on Saturday.
 
Sophomore C.J. Shugart got the Ephs on the board first, midway through the third period, and was then backed up by freshman Michael Lata, and sophomore David Italiano, to secure a victory, and a continued undefeated conference record. 
 
In net for the Ephs (5-1, 4-0 NESCAC) was freshman Michael Pinios, who made 17 saves this afternoon. In net for the Camels (1-4-2, 0-2-2) was senior Tom Conlin, who 17 saves. 
 
The Ephs play at Amherst on Friday.
 
WOMEN'S HOCKEY
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -- The Williams women's hockey team beat Wesleyan, 3-0, on Saturday.
 
Michaela Levine scored twice for Williams (4-2, 3-1 NESCAC). Christina Cleroux stopped 33 shots to earn the shutout.
 
The Ephs will return to ice on Saturday at Utica.
 
MEN'S BASKETBALL
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Wesleyan senior guard BJ Davis converted a floater with 0.9 seconds remaining in the game to give the Cardinals (6-1) a 58-56 victory over the Williams Ephs (5-1).
 
The Ephs, playing without usual starters Mike Greenman and Chris Galvin due to injuries, gave the defending NESCAC Champions everything they could handle, but fell just short. 
 
Davis led Wesleyan with 17 points and 8 rebounds on the night.
 
Daniel Aronowitz continued his streak of great games with 27 points and 13 rebounds. Freshman forward Kyle Scadlock finished with 11 points and seven boards.
 
Williams next plays at Oneonta State on Tuesday.
 
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.- While the Williams College women’s soccer team was busy winning a national championship in Kansas City, the Williams women’s basketball team stayed unbeaten in dominant fashion, beating Clarkson University, 81-59, on Saturday.
 
Williams, now 6-0 to start the season, was spurred on by the outstanding individual performance of tournament MVP Ammani Fernandez. The sophomore followed her team high 19-point performance last night against Pine Manor with a double-double that included 20 points and 11 assists. Clarkson (5-2) was led by all-tournament selection sophomore Devin Sorell, who scored 32 points in 39 minutes of action.
 
Williams will play Smith College at home on Wednesday.
