WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The Skidmore College Thoroughbreds (3-1) scored a goal in each half and downed Williams College (2-1) 2-0 on Cole Field Tuesday afternoon.
Skidmore opened the scoring with a long throw-in from the let side from Ben Caples that reached Nick Massiero in the middle of the 18-yard box, where it was headed into the goal just to the left of Eph keeper Christian Alcorn.
The Ephs' best scoring opportunity of the first half came about midway through the opening session when Mark Sisco-Tolomeo headed down a baEli ll in the box to an onrushing Malcolm Singleton. Singleton struck the ball well, but Kisselbach was able to get both hands on the ball leaping to his left and deflecting the ball out of the goal area.
Skidmore's Kisselbach and the Ephs' Christian Alcorn each registered two saves in the opening half. The Thoroughbreds were called for eight fouls in the first 45 minutes, while Williams was whistled for two fouls.
At 87:18 Kevin Santos gave Skidmore an insurance goal. Augustine Okoye assisted on he score when ran onto a defensive lapse by the Eph backline and fed the streaking Santos on the left side. Santos carried the ball into the box ahead of an Eph defender and ripped a low shot into the right side netting past the Eph goalie, doubling the Thoroughbreds' lead.
Alcon finished with two saves.
Williams heads to Maine looking to return to the win column when they play at Colby on Saturday and at Bowdoin on Sunday.
