WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- With months of fruitful summer training under their belt, the Williams College women's cross country team is ready to hit the ground running this fall.

Head coach Pete Farwell is returning for his 16th season as the head coach of women's cross country and has led the women's team to 14 top-eight team finishes at the NCAAs in the last 15 seasons, including wins in both 2002 and 2004.

Last season, the Eph women continued their tradition of excellence at the national level by finishing eighth overall at NCAAs. Unlike in previous seasons, however most of the top group of runners from the 2014 season were underclassmen who will be returning to compete for top spots this fall.

Fourth for the Ephs at the NCAAs was senior Lacey Serletti, who was 87th overall. Serletti is the team's most seasoned top competitor and will be a co-captain this season as well, along with classmates  Meg Richardson and Kathryn McNaughton.

Juniors Hannah Cole (131st at NCAA's) and Emma Zehner (145th at NCAA's) are two strong cxompetitors who had great seasons last fall and will be making an impact this season. Michelle Buncke is yet another junior to watch.

The top three finishers from NCAAs last year were all freshmen who are now returning as confident sophomores. These speedy sophomores include Anna Harleen, who was just shy of an All-American spot (top 35) with a 38th place finish in 2014, Emily Sundquist (48th), and Victoria Kingham (58th).

Rebecca Delacruz-Gunderson, winner of the 2014 ECAC championship race and the alternate for NCAAs last season, is another strong runner who will be returning as a sophomore. Senior Molly Belk, who was the third scorer for the Ephs in the 2013 NCAA race, will also be returning to the team after being abroad last fall.

This weekend, the women are heading to Canada to open the season at the McGill Invitational in Montreal.
