Mingo's in North Adams promotes a contest tied to next Thursday's NFL Opening Night — a night that promises to go a little better for New England in light of Thursday's ruling in U.S. District Court in Manhattan.
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The verdict is in. And for New Englanders who stand by the Patriots through and through, the verdict is definitely in your favor.

Four-time Super Bowl Champion Tom Brady has yet won another battle, beating NFL Commissioner Rodger Goodell in federal court. U.S. District Judge Richard Berman issued his decision Thursday morning, stating that the four-game suspension issued to Brady for his alleged awareness of deflated footballs in the Jan. 18 AFC Championship game be vacated immediately.

Cue the memes, the Twitter debates, the Facebook comments, and the celebrations throughout New England.

For Patriots fans, Thursday was almost, if not better than, Christmas morning.

"I'm pretty happy that Judge Berman cleared him, although I wasn't expecting him to be completely cleared," Dan Maloy of Cheshire said. "I'm excited that at least for now, Brady can put all of this behind him and get back to focusing on football so he can prove all of his doubters wrong once again.

"Prove all of his doubters wrong once again."

The beginning of last football season Brady was again a big topic of discussion as to whether the then three-time champ was cut out for the game anymore, but that was proved wrong come Super Bowl XLIX.

With Thursday's ruling, you can believe that the Patriots and their fans are more than ready for next Thursday's opening night.

"I don't know too much about the legalities of everything, I think realistically that's kind of what I thought would happen," Patriot fan and Drury High School football coach Seth Sheppard said. "I don't think anyone thought Brady was going to be suspended for four games; everything I heard from the reporting was that the judge was siding with Brady and didn't think the NFL had too much to back up the story and that' everything we've heard for nine months now."

But, there are still some fans that stand by their beliefs that Brady did have knowledge of the deflated balls and that evidence may have been tampered with.

One of those fans is New York Giants backer Brennan DeSanty of North Adams. The Pats took on the Giants on Thursday in their final pre-season game.

"I understand the results of the hearing, given the lack of evidence." DeSanty said. "It's obviously huge for Pats fans to have their star QB for week one going forward, however I feel like Tom is not completely innocent and that he was aware of the balls being deflated.

"I also think it's ludicrous to say that you destroy your cell phones on a regular basis, I mean I know money isn't anything to TB, but come on, he destroyed his phone because he didn't want anyone to see that the evidence was there."

All and all: Tom Brady will be suited up in his football uniform next Thursday, and hopefully the talk of "Deflate gate" will be deflated itself.
