NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Oh Crepe! is the newest, locally sourced and "walkable" food option on Main Street.

Even before Oh Crepe's official opening announcement on Sunday, owners Emily Schiavone and Ben Lamb were impressed at how much business was coming through the doors at 57 Main St.

The idea came to the two unexpectedly, Lamb said. After wanting to open a business for a number of years, and searching for something the two could be equally excited about, inspiration came in the form of crepes while visiting Martha's Vineyard.

The two discovered that almost anything can be done with the delicate pancakes and wanted to bring the idea back to North Adams.

Lamb said the two also discovered that crepes were an offbeat option that other people were just as excited about. They decided to move the crêperie into the space inside Berkshire Emporium & Antiques that had most recently been a coffeeshop.

With eggs, cheese, butter, cakes and coffee all sourced locally, the opening of Oh Crepe also hopes to benefit the local economy. They are the only place in town serving Assembly Coffee Roasters, based in Pittsfield, and offer both sweet fruit crepes and savory sandwich crepes.

Other than delicious crepes and local sources, Oh Crepe's other goal is to try to make a "walkable" food option.

"We have a great little city that you can walk end to end in a given afternoon. Why not provide a food offering that you can take with you rather than forcing you to sit down at a table for the duration of your meal?" Lamb said.

Oh Crepe will also be holding Crepe of the Month competitions: anyone can suggest a crepe recipe and a (PG-rated) name through the Facebook page. The winning selection is chosen by staff and first winner will be available on Monday, May 18.

The couple has trained crêpiers to run the eatery. It is open from 7:30 to 4:30 weekdays, 8 to 4 on Saturday and 8:30 to 4 on Sunday.
