BENNINGTON, Vt. — PAVE, Bennington County’s local domestic violence agency, will mark October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

On Thursday, Oct. 23, Friendly’s of Bennington will donate 20 percent of all proceeds from purchases made by customers who have coupons.

During this month, PAVE honors the courage and strength of victims experiencing abuse and applauds survivors who have attained their independence. Also, PAVE asks communities to reflect on the cumulative effects that abuse and stalking have on families, on the ability to educate children in the community who have experienced or witnessed abuse, on workplace safety, and on business productivity.

More than 1 in 3 women (35.6 percent) and more than 1 in 4 men (28.5 percent) in the United States have experienced rape, physical violence and/or stalking by an intimate partner in their lifetime. And according to mathematical statistics, in 2013 there were 971 people stalked in Bennington County. To learn more about domestic violence, please visit the PAVE Facebook page.

Call 802-442-2370 for locations of Friendly’s coupons. For help because of domestic, dating or sexual violence, and stalking, call PAVE's 24-hour hotline at 802-442-2111.
