NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — A state committee will be taking testimony Tuesday on issues related to substance abuse.
The hearing runs on April 29 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at North Adams City Hall.
The state Senate Special Committee on Drug Abuse and Treatment Options in the Commonwealth is holding two hearings in Western Massachusetts in April, including the one in North Adams.

The committee is inviting the following groups to provide testimony: law enforcement officials, district attorneys, sheriffs, police and fire officials, health centers, treatment providers, medical professionals, family advocates, educators and school superintendents.
The committee is interested in hearing about efforts to prevent and treat drug addiction in the community, as well as barriers to treatment that currently exist.
The hearings are open to the public but testimony will be heard by invitation only. Members of the public, however, are welcome to provide written testimony.
