WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Fourteen Mount Greylock Regional School District students were chosen to participate in the Massachusetts Music Educator’s Western District Festivals during the 2014 Festival year.
Four high school students performed in the Massachusetts Western District Senior High Festival, which took place on Jan. 11 at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Eric Hirsch, trumpet, performed with the band. Mercer Greenwald viola; Schuyler Fohrhaltz-Burbank, double bass; and Taylor Fohrhaltz-Burbank, cello played with the orchestra.
Eric Hirsch, Schuyler Fohrhaltz-Burbank and Taylor Fohrhaltz-Burbank received All-State recommendations and Schuyler Fohrhaltz-Burbank represented Mount Greylock at the Massachusetts Music Educator’s All-State Festival on March 22 in Symphony Hall, in Boston.
Ten middle school students were chosen to participate in the March 15 Massachusetts Western District Junior High Festival at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. Dagny Albano, Sophie Jones and Mae Burris-Wells for the band; Serena Chow, Zephie Gollin, Karen Magnusdottir McComish and Jesse Cohen for the orchestra; Aaron Kleiner and Matthew Kleiner for jazz band; and Rachel Bisson for the chorus.
