The Pittsfield Garden Tour Solicits Birdhouse Artists - January 31, 2008
Pittsfield – The Pittsfield Garden Tour is calling for artists who would like to participate in the group’s popular Birdhouse Spectacular. Each year, the Garden Tour Committee invites citizens and artists to decorate birdhouses in any manner, theme or fashion.
The Birdhouses are then exhibited during the Garden Tour’s Birdhouse Spectacular prior to the Pittsfield Garden Tour, which is this year scheduled for July 19 and 20. During the Spectacular, the Birdhouses are auctioned to the public with this year’s auction taking place on July 17 during Downtown Pittsfield’s Third Thursday event.
Because there is a limit of 50 Birdhouses available, those who express interest will be selected at random to participate in the Spectacular. As an added benefit this year, twelve of the 50 Birdhouses will be chosen by a panel of professional artists for inclusion in a 2009 special edition calendar.
Those interested in decorating a Birdhouse must send their name, address, telephone number and e-mail address (if applicable) to The Pittsfield Garden Tour, P.O. Box 1034, Pittsfield, MA 01202 no later than February 16, 2008. The selected participants will receive their wooden unfinished Birdhouse on or about March 1. Artists must return their completed Birdhouse no later than May 16, 2008 (extensions are not possible).
For more information, contact Anne Pasko, chair of The Pittsfield Garden Tour, at 413-443-1832. |
