Judy O'Neil, 70

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Judy O’Neil died on January 18, 2018, at the age of 70. She had a happy life. She was confident, optimistic, and outspoken!

Judy leaves the love of her life, her husband, Jerry; her sons, Colin and Brian; her daughters-in-law, Shayla and Signe; her four grandchildren, Sophie, JT, Charlie, and Eilee; and her sister, Donna Gibbs.

Judy graduated from Shrewsbury High School in 1965, Smith College in 1969, and then received a fellowship to study at the Sorbonne in Paris. She taught French and second grade in Newton, Massachusetts, before moving to Williamstown in 1975. She also graduated summa cum lauded from “Thrifty School” and the “IDGS School of Cooking”.

For more than 30 years Judy brought art to life. She was a docent at the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute and at the Williams College Museum of Art. She was appreciated for her humor, friendliness, interesting stories and unconditional love.

Judy audited more than 80 classes at Williams College, read 100 books a year, played tennis and bridge, and walked and talked!

She had frequent dinner parties for her many friends. She had a joie de vivre and a “joie de boss.”

A reception will follow. Memorial donations are suggested for the Milne Public Library, 1095 Main St. Williamstown, MA 01267.

I'm so saddened to learn of Judy's passing. I have dear memories of her going back all of my 48 years. She had an infectious laugh and was one of the kindest people I have ever known. Love and prayers to Jerry and the boys.

Judy was the BEST of the BEST.
She was the most incredible mother, wife and friend that I've known. She may have moved along in body, but her heart will always be in mine.
Love you Judy.
ps. We'll take care of your family the way you'd want us to! Rest easy.

Jerry and family I am so saddened by Judy’s passing. She was a “ hot ticket” and her sense of “Joie de Vie” was infectious. So many blessings have come from our daughter marrying Bryan Muir, we have been gifted knowing Bob and JoAnne and many friends. Judy had a way of making you feel special. I know this is a great loss to your community, your many friends and family. She will be remembered for being a force of nature who lived and loved fully.
