BENNINGTON, Vt. — Southern Vermont College, facing "insurmountable pressure," will close at the end of the spring semester. In an announcement made Monday morning, President David R. Evans cited declining enrollment, financial pressure, and adverse action by the college's regional accreditor concerning institutional resources. Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in North Adams, Mass., has agreed to accept SVC's new students in the fall semester. WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The town is looking for residents' input on a draft hazard mitigation plan that has been prepared at the request of the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Town Manager Jason Hoch announced last week the start of a four-week period for public comment on the 143-page document available in PDF format through the town's website. Hoch explained that the document was prepared in cooperation with personnel at the Berkshire Regional Planning Commission and in consultation with key Town Hall staff, but it is appropriate to solicit public comment to make sure any potential hazards are addressed. Williamstown Community Preschool Installs New Signage |
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Williamstown Community Preschool began sprucing up its new home by hiring local sign maker Lindsay Neathawk, owner of Neathawk Signs and Design, to create a 3D sign for the business.
Neathawk installed the sign late Monday afternoon that features multicolored hand prints from the children as the leaves of a tree poking out of the top. Underneath the name and address "a place to grow" is written. The children's hand prints were taken at the school and Neathawk then scanned them into her design programs to create the sign.
