Clark Art Artist Talk and Book Launch With Anne Thompson| 11:04AM / Friday, April 22, 2022 | |
 WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Artist Anne Thompson will visit the Clark Art Institute on Wednesday, April 27 at 6 pm to discuss her recent exhibition, "Trail Signs," in which she installed forty-eight unique prints on the Clark's wayfinding kiosks over the course of the winter. Thompson will discuss her artistic and curatorial practice in conversation with the Clark's Robert Weisenberger, associate curator of contemporary projects. The event also celebrates the launch of her limited-edition artist's book documenting the project. This event is presented live in the Clark's auditorium. Advance registration is required.  BENNINGTON, Vt. — Bennington Museum has joined the ranks of the 245 organizations across the country that are receiving new grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities totaling $33.17 million. Included in those awards was $52,173 for the state of Vermont, $46,173 of which was awarded to Bennington Museum for the purchase and installation of energy-saving windows for the historic building. WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Parish of Sts. Patrick & Raphael is seeking input from interested community members on their spiritual reflections. The Rev. John P. McDonagh said the parish has already held Synod Consultation Sessions with the Parish Council, parents participating in Generations of Faith Formation program, and parishioners, as well as the Harper Center and Williamstown Commons. He added that "the parish is also interested in hearing what the Holy Spirit is telling people in the community." WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The committee that oversees the Fire District last week reviewed a fiscal 2023 budget that amounts to a 3.14 percent increase over the current year. But the $498,000 spending plan is just 0.4 percent higher than the operating budget the annual district meeting approved two years ago. Last spring, the Prudential Committee put forward a budget that reflected a 2.7 percent decrease from FY21 to FY22. This year, it may be looking to recoup that drop plus a little more according to a preliminary budget presented by Treasurer Corydon Thurston at a special meeting. STOW, Mass. —State Fire Marshal Peter J. Ostroskey offered a fire safety reminder to homeowners and others who plan on using mulch in upcoming landscaping projects. "Every spring, firefighters across Massachusetts respond to mulch fires on commercial and residential properties," State Fire Marshal Ostroskey said. "These include fires that start with cigarettes and other smoking materials. Remember that mulch is combustible and can easily catch fire." WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Mount Greylock Regional School District plans to open up 32 new school choice slots between its three schools for the 2022-23 academic year, the School Committee learned last week. Superintendent Jason McCandless had previously announced a plan to open up 15 new slots at Lanesborough Elementary School to help offset increased use of the district's school choice reserve in fiscal year 2023 spending plan. Williamstown Community Preschool Installs New Signage |
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Williamstown Community Preschool began sprucing up its new home by hiring local sign maker Lindsay Neathawk, owner of Neathawk Signs and Design, to create a 3D sign for the business.
Neathawk installed the sign late Monday afternoon that features multicolored hand prints from the children as the leaves of a tree poking out of the top. Underneath the name and address "a place to grow" is written. The children's hand prints were taken at the school and Neathawk then scanned them into her design programs to create the sign.
